8bb Performing Arts Association has appointed Chris Richardson as Administrative Director, the ensemble’s first full time administrative employee. Up to this point, any and all admin work has been divided up among the players, but thanks to 8bb’s growth and continuing success this is no longer a feasible arrangement.
Below is a short bio:
For the last two years Chris Richardson has worked at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance as Assistant to President & Managing Director Michael Tiknis. In this capacity Chris had a multitude of responsibilities across several departments, as well as established positive working relationships with many members of Chicago’s philanthropic and performing arts communities. Over the last ten years Chris has also served in a variety of capacities at the Theosophical Society in America, a small nonprofit organization based in Illinois, including six years as a member of the National Board of Directors.
While at the Harris Theater Chris developed an intimate familiarity with the struggles, opportunities and successes of small performing arts companies, and a working knowledge of necessary support structures. Further, he is an articulate and passionate advocate for the arts in general, and eighth blackbird in particular, and feels uniquely situated to act as a bridge between eighth blackbird and audiences.
Chris brings a diverse set of qualifications in communications, development and general administration that will enable him to immediately make a substantial contribution to the eighth blackbird organization and to help ensure its long term growth and viability.
Once Chris starts with us full-time, I will give him a proper grilling and post the chat on the blog. Chris is particularly committed to extending 8bb’s online presence, so expect bigger better things from the website and the blog in 08/09.
Welcome to 8bb, mate! It’s a relief and a bloody delight to have you on board.

Hired, Munro, Richardson was hired. If he was a judge or a new member of eighth blackbird, he would have been appointed. Congratulations, nonetheless.
