This is a frustrating post to write.
Yesterday we met with Tom Morris, Ojai Festival head honcho, and after a typically intense, frustrating, fight-then-kiss-and-make-up three hours, have confirmed 95% of the 2009 festival, for which us 8bb folks are Music Directors.
I want to excitedly scream the program from the rooftops, wax lyrical about some fabulous guest artists, enthuse about the craziness of some of the juxtapositions. But no.
(Although if you find me after a concert, bribe me with alcohol, berate me insistently and threaten me with deportation I might budge on one or two elements.)
The festival program will be announced shortly after the dust clears from what will be a nail-biting election night in early November, and at that time I will act like a kid in a candy store, like a pig in shit, like an Aussie during happy hour.
The one element that has been announced publicly is the exciting evening-length collaboration between 8bb, Rinde Eckert and Steve Mackey, Slide. You can read all about this project here. And I am currently trying to edit a big multi-post update (including video) covering our recent, very bloody exciting workshop for the project. Watch this space.
